March 2015

Conservative gov must be kicking themselves over the appointment of an intellectual property figure called the UK-IP Chief.

So, I know I know lots of people here at #UKSG15... Come say hello! Sitting in the area next to the coffee/in front of the exhibits.

Really sorry to have to leave #lpforum early. What a great conference! Thanks for having me. Jetting to Glasgow to speak at #uksg now though

. @catherinemitch makes public the CDL/UCP project advisory board. She warns me that I can't back out now! #lpforum

.@catherinemitch stressing importance and neglect of infrastructure. Suspect @gbilder would like this. #lpforum

In any case, I'm speaking at UNC and then Duke today on (what else) open access and the humanities. Do join us if you're in the area.

A little worse for wear today; flight was cancelled & I spent half the night going to a different airport. I did meet new friends, though.

Wikipedia great in many ways but sceptical of some discourse: no interpretation of sources etc. Even possible? #odhs15

Great talk from @pfyfe at #odhs15 on difficulties he faced when confronted by closed data. "I can had data?" "No"

Yay. More Google products shuttered. I remember this whenever it's suggested that Google should replace libraries.

It looks, in this case, as though the author signed separate license to allow publisher to re-license, even though it's NC.

Re. RELX/Wiley resale of CC BY-NC stuff @rmounce showed: the thing that scholars wanted to avoid with NC license is being done by publishers

Today could look better. Woke up at 5am and went straight into full-blown migraine. This afternoon: hospital for monthly drip.
