The other: "needs re-structuring". I'll cede, but re-structuring always feels the most "damaging" at the time, even if I like the result!

Got the fun situation of two conflicting reader reports on recent article. One says (paraphrased) "this is great: publish as is".

Just attended a rather fine Mark Knopfler gig in Brighton. A good birthday weekend after Beckett's Not I last night!

I love some of the reviewers for Orbit. Asked for evaluation of article. Incredibly detailed feedback 6 hours later.

Latest scholarly kitchen article says problem with CC-BY is that people are republishing without attribution. But that's not a prob w/ CC.

Spent the afternoon finishing off reading Colin Koopman's (absolutely fantastic) book on Foucault. Re-situated firmly in Kantian realm.

Mostly focused on making the library a bi-directional hub for the university. Need to /communicate with/ and /educate/ researchers.

Larry Page railing against medical privacy in a "nothing to hide, nothing to fear" fashion. Easy for him to say. #employment #recession

Reading Koopman's Genealogy as Critique. Really not convinced that Foucault's roots in a Kantian lineage have been overlooked...

A good evening debating open access at Birkbeck UCU with @MeeraSabaratnam and @PabloK - lots of good union action points.

New mission after overhearing most tedious commuter conversation ever: I won't tell anyone how busy I am. Everyone is busy; will just assume

New London-based Infinite Jest reading group. First meeting Wed. May 15th 2013, 6-8 PM, Senate House Lib., Room 218; shame I can't make it.

Ha ha, the British Library @_Americas Studies account has changed its "Twitter name" to an appropriately themed #Pynchon2013 moniker

Self-help book read by person next to me on tube. "our negative forces: <bullet point list in comic sans>"

My day today is mostly writing about Willa Cather and populist contexts for understanding My Ántonia.

Just to say that it would be better if the MLA database didn't store passwords in plaintext format (can recover passwords) @MLAconvention

MA symposium today was brilliant - some startlingly good papers. Then farewell to Prof Barker & a productive train meeting w/ @the_blochian
