International Open Access WeekThis is a quick post to point out that I will be speaking at the University of Sussex's contribution to International Open Access Week on the 20th of October 2010.

Alongside a host of other speakers, I will talk on the pros and cons of Open Access publishing and how it can help with your research.

A full list of events going on around campus are available on the Sussex Open Access Week website, but here's a summary of the humanities and social sciences section:

Maximise your research impact: engaging with open access publishing.
A seminar for researchers in the humanities and social sciences

Wednesday 20th October 12.00-2.00pm

Jonathan Connor, Digital Content Manager, ESRC
Martin Eve, Doctoral Student in English and Chief Editor of Excursions
Kitty Inglis, University Librarian

This seminar will provide an opportunity for researchers across the humanities and social sciences to discuss the impact of open access upon their own research, the different options for making research outputs open access, and the advantages and disadvantages of doing so.

It will feature presentations from Jonathan Connor (Digital Content Manager at ESRC), Martin Eve (Doctoral Student in English and Chief Editor of Excursions), and Kitty Inglis (University Librarian), with plenty of time for questions and discussion.

If you are interested in attending, then you will need to book a place, but this is free of charge.
